One day Seminar on “Goods and Services Tax” was organized bythe Department of Management Studies, MaharishiMarkandeshwar University Sadopur-Ambalaon September 25, 2017. An identified GST Faculty, Institute of Chartered Accountants of India, CA,Mr. Rajeev Sharma,addressed the students to make them familiarize about the basics aspects of the most important reform in the field of Indian Taxation-‘Goods and Services Tax Law’.The programmeincepted with the lamp lightning ceremony by Prof. Raman Gupta, Registrar M.M. Universty,Sadopur. Mr. Rajeev Sharma further explicated the registration process and eligibility criteria for retailers on the basis of sales turnover and elucidated about the consumption scheme and percentage of tax imposed on industries prominent in the domain of hospitality, manufacturing etc.
 
Later he stated that GST is at a very nascent stage and is yet to find shape and form. But once it is in place it will help in curbing black money, corruption and tax evasion and will have concrete effectson the economy.The session concluded with an interactive discussion between the resource person and the attendees.
