Case Study of ISBT at Chandigarh and Mohali

A visit for case study was organized by MM School of Architecture, Ambala on 06th August 2018 to Bus Terminals at Chandigarh (Sector-17 and 43) and Mohali for the students of B. Arch, 7th semester as part of their academic curriculum. The students were made aware of essential aspects of design and structure of an Inter State Bus Terminal.

It involved analysis of types and scale of spaces which are provided in a Bus Terminal involving cautious arrangement of services and circulation of vehicles and pedestrians. Students documented the study in the form of notes, sketches and photographs. The study provided an insight into merits and demerits of each project, thereby enabling students to incorporate the inferences in individual design solutions.

The visit thus conducted helped in learning about designs created by professional architects who incorporate years of experience in such buildings. It helped to gain practical knowledge and bridge gap between theory and practice.
