Case Study Visit To Kindergarten

MM School of Architecture organized a one day case study visit for 2nd year students of B.Arch. to Kindegarten in Panchkula on 10th October, 2018 as part of Architectural design problem with an aim to study a kindergarten with modern play-learning environment. During the visit, the students practically tried to understand the literal meaning of a Kindergarten, that it is basically a ‘garden for children’, which is a preschool educational approach based on playing, singing, practical activities and social interaction as part of the transition from home to school and vice versa.

The school has been designed keeping in mind the critical role of the physical environment in the learning process and the development of children as environment influences how children play, learn and get along with others. As children are more sensitive to feel, touch, texture, therefore, here the learning space allows them to explore, observe, and motivate so that learning becomes more enjoyable.

During the study, the students showed a lot of enthusiasm not only towards understanding the concept of kindergarten, the planning, and anthropometry but also in understanding the relationship of various design elements required in a kindergarten.

It was a great exposure and a learning experience for the students as they were able to strengthen their academic knowledge with the practical experience.
