MM School of Architecture organised a workshop on 18^th February, 2019,by Ar.Hemant Dhanvantrai Wala,a leading academician and practising architect from Ahmedabad.An alumnus of CEPT, Ahmedabad, he has won many international awards and has authored more than 40 research papers. He has taught in various leading institutes in field of Design and Architecture. Prof. Aradhana Jindal, Principal welcomed the guests and addressed the students and faculty, declaring the workshop open.

Day one of workshop began with Ar.Hemant Wala’s address where he asked students to think critically about their thought processes and view buildings as an envelope for life. He explained the importance of observation in understanding life and encouraged students to overcome theirpast conditioning,making way for fresh and unique ideas. In the question answer session, he further expanded on how to overcome mental blocks by comparing the approaches of well-trained and well-nourished professionals. The facilitators discussed various examples on how creative people have enriched our environment.

The workshop began with a small scale design problem, where students had to begin by defining their problem statement and refining their architectural intentions. Students were encouraged to explore possibilities in order to have a wider base for creative inputs and a more comprehensive design. Students graphically represented their design decisions for the jury at the end of day one. Students continued to break barriers of their conventional notions of buildings and explored design thinking through physical models.

With such inspirational talks, Ar. Hemant and Ar.Mital  filled the young minds with great spirit.The workshop was followed by a brief interactive session and a token of respect was awarded to the guests by Prof. Aradhana Jindal, Principal.
