Visit to Waterworks at Ambala Cantt, Handesra, Bora and Khera Village

MM School of Architecture organized visit to waterworks at Ambala Cantt, Handesra, Bora and Khera village on 17th and 24th December 2019 for B.Arch 6th semester students as part of their ongoing exercise in Measured Drawing subject.

When a Colonial Cantonment was established in Ambala, a system of waterworks was developed in which series of wells were dug near Tangri river which was further transported to the Cantonment through channels. Though these channels and wells are part of heritage yet they remain in state of neglect constant damage leading to dilapidation. Students were divided into groups, where each group was tasked with making observations of and around each built form alongside taking note of tangible and intangible aspects. They took measurements and prepared sketches which could be eventually compiled in presentations.

The field exercise helped the students to carry out detailed documentation, made them aware about the history of the city and enabled them to conduct such exercises in future.
