2 Days Training Programme on ECBC by ECBC Cell Hareda

Two days Training Workshop on ECBC (Energy Conservation Building Code) was organized by ECBC Cell of Hareda, Panchkula, Haryana in MM School of Architecture on 12th and 13th April 2021. The workshop was attended by 30 government employees, coming from different government sectors like PWD, Public Health Department, Irrigation Department, Electrical Department, etc. Faculty members and students of MM School of Architecture also attended the workshop.


The workshop commenced by introducing Prof. Aradana Jindal (Principal, MM School of Architecture) by Ar. Tushar Srivastava.He gave a brief introduction of 2 days training program. The first training session began by Er. Money Khanna (Mechanical Engineer) who explained the necessity and importance of Energy Efficient buildings in India. He geve a detailed introduction of ECBC in the second session by stating that the Energy Conservation Building Code (ECBC) was developed by the Govt. of India for new commercial buildings and released on 27th May 2007. He also mentioned that ECBC sets minimum energy standards for commercial buildings having a connected load of 100kW or contract demand of 120 KVA and above.


On the 2nd day of the workshop, the speaker of the day was Er. Manoj Singh (Electrical Engineer). He talked about prescriptive and mandatory requirements for building systems in the 3rd session of the workshop. He explained that building systems have provisions of ECBC code that are applied to the building envelope, mechanical systems, and equipment including heating, ventilating, and air conditioning, service hot water heating, interior, and exterior lighting, electrical power and motors, and renewable energy systems.


In the last session of the workshop Er. Manoj interpreted the process for compliance of ECBC building which provides three levels of compliance (“ECBC Compliant”, “ECBC+”, and “Super ECBC”).
The workshop was very informative for all the attendees. It was a prelude by Hareda towards the Sustainable built environment.
