Students of V Semester, B. Arch from MM school of Architecture visited Emerging Heights-3 housing in Sector-115, Mohali and Maya Garden City housing, Zirakpur on 10th July, 2018, as a part of their design Studio problem along with three faculty members. With the help of the case study, students can easily relate the theoretical aspects of designing with real life exposure.

For better understanding students were divided into a group of 4 students and each group was given a checklist to follow and cover all the aspects of housing like bye-laws, parking facilities, services, open landscape areas, other amenities, planning etc. Also, they learnt about various construction methods and materials used for the construction of housing.

During this study, students showed a lot of enthusiasm not only towards taking measurements but also interviewing people. They were also told to critically examine the building’s negative and positive aspects for better understanding. They also spoke to the officials working on the site regarding the services involves in the housing society like sanitary, electrical substation, pump house etc.
